Dutch Oven Bread

with cheddar & everything bagel seasoning

Here's my version of this crusty, rustic bread using cheddar and everything bagel seasoning.   Even better? It's a no-knead recipe, making it perfect to bake up whether you're new to  baking or enjoy it all the time.

A blend of flours are used in this recipe

Flavorful add-ins of cheese and everything bagel seasoning!

The bread is a wonderful complexity of flavor and texture

This recipe will walk you through the basic steps to making homemade bread with little effort,

3 ½ cups bread flour 1 ¼ cups whole wheat flour 4 tsp kosher salt  2 ¼ tsp instant yeast 1 cup shredded semi-hard cheese , such as sharp cheddar 3–4 tbsp everything bagel seasoning, plus more for sprinkling on top, optional 2 cups warm water   Rice flour or semolina flour, for dusting

Form a sticky dough using a stand mixer or with a wooden spoon.

Proof at room temperature for 1 ½ - 2 hours then place in the fridge overnight to develop more flavor and gluten. The cold dough is easier to shape.

Follow the tutorial on the blog for easy step-by-step instructions for shaping the dough.

Add a beautiful texture to it to bake up with.

Turn your dough out of the bowl onto a floured piece of parchment paper. Cover with a clean dishcloth and let rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled in size.

When dough has 30 min left to rise, place empty Dutch oven with lid in cold oven then preheat oven to 500°F (260°C).

Bake for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, remove the lid, and bake until top of loaf is dark brown

Let the loaf cool completely, at least 2 hours, on a wire rack before slicing or storing.
