Cinnamon Rolls with Apple Pie Filling

Dough Ingredients: – 1 cup milk – ¼ cup unsalted butter – 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour, divided – ¼ cup  granulated sugar – 1 teaspoon kosher salt – 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast – 1  egg, room temperature, lightly beaten

Prepare the dough, proof at room temperature 1-1.5 hours then place in the fridge overnight

Roll out dough and spread with 1/4 cup softened butter

Sprinkle with 1/4 cup granulated sugar plus 1/4 cup brown sugar

Prepare apple pie filling: – ¼ cup unsalted butter – 3 cups tart apples, such as Granny Smith, peeled and chopped – 2 tablespoon lemon juice – ⅓ cup  packed brown sugar – ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon Allow to cool then spread on top of sugar and butter

Roll up from the long edge

Slice into 8 pieces and place in buttered baking pan; Allow to rise then bake for 20 minutes at 350ºF

Cream Cheese Frosting: – 4 oz cream cheese, softened – 3 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened – 1 teaspoon vanilla – 1 ½ cups powdered sugar – 1-2 tablespoon milk (if needed) Slather on warm cinnamon rolls and serve
