Helpful Ingredients & Tools
- High Quality Chocolate: Especially for special occasions, using the highest quality ingredients yields better results, plain and simple. Since Valentine's Day is all about the chocolate, I highly recommend using high quality chocolate in the recipes that call for it. My favorites are Ghirardelli and Scharffen Berger.
- Valentine's Day Sprinkles: These are perfect for the Chocolate Truffles, the Strawberries & Cream Cookie Sandwiches, and the Red Velvet Blondies. Try incorporating in the Brownie Cookies or any dessert for a festive twist! Here are some I really like.
- Heart-Shaped Cookie Cutter: Use these for the Strawberries & Cream Cookie Sandwiches, the Red Velvet Blondies and the White Chocolate Dipped Rice Krispie Treats. Here is a great one!
- PRO TIP: Trace the cookie cutter onto a piece of parchment paper or wax paper, cut out the shape and place on a clean plate. Using a small sieve or strainer, sift some cocoa powder over the wax paper heart shape, covering the area about 1-2 inches around the shape. Carefully lift the wax paper heart off the plate to reveal a cocoa powder heart! Serve your treat in the middle or on the side.
